FRUITFUL TAUMARERE.
A beautiful spot for a camp, no doubt, situate in a lovely valley, with orchards that were loaded, and kumeras, water-mellon, maize in cob, and lots of other luxuries soothing to the hungry army from various parts of the North, have now become a scarce commodity, owing to the patronage given during the early and late hours, when settlers were doing their honest slumber and the blackbirds were at x rest. A little bird from the pigeon-loft says it is to be hoped that when the next camp is held, it will be either in the spring-time or depth of winter —then the crops will be safe from the depredations of the none too welcome intruders.
