Greek Preparations—Great Military Activity — British Submarine's Exploit—Good Work, in Sea of Marmora — Council of Six Allied /States '■■/■•■■, -\ .. :■ ' ■ The Greek military authorities are" conferring with General Sarnail, commander of the allied expedition to the' Balkans, regarding the allies' demands. Italian despatches state that the situation is.very serious1. Greek military preparations are being feverishly hastened, and King Constantine is less and less disposed to yield to the allies. King Constantine gave an interview, in which he said he ;was grieved at the suspicion with which he was regarded. He repeated assurances that Greece was not capable of treachery.
A British submarine has done three days' good work in the- Sea of Marmora. It sank the Yar Hissar,' one of the most modern of the Turkish destroyers, a supply ship, four sailing vessels and supply, carriers, and damaged the Ismid railway by shell-fire.
A Turkish communique reports a renewal of naval and military activity at the Dardanelles.
Germans at Constantinople boast that 2,000,000 Turks will be* armed in the spring, and that the expedition against Egypt will be ready early in January.
The first meeting of the Allied War Council has been held. Representatives of Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Servia, and Belgium were present. Mr Asquith states that arrangements for closer military co-operation have been completed as regards France and are under consideration in connection with the other allies.
