Reply from Greece—Friendly to the Allies — Russian force at Bessarabia—Earl Kitchener in Paris
The Servians at Monastir have not yet been attacked, but a Bulgarian force is marching on the town. Snow has stopped operations on the Franco-British front.
There are somewhat conflicting reports regarding the deliberations of the Greek Government on the allies' demands. The most definite is a semi-official statement made in Athens that Greece has replied in friendlyterms, and that negotiations are being concluded.
The allies are repotted to have landed 125,000 men at Salonika, and to have 45,000 men on the way.
There are huge Russian concentrations in Bessarabia, and the troops at Reni have been reviewed by the Tsai. Earl Kitchener, after visitng Italy, has arrived in Paris, General Charles Monro, who was sent to report on the Dardanelles operations, has remained at Salonika. General Birdwood has been placed in control of all the British forces at the Dardanelles. General Godley succeeds him in command .of the Australian and New Zealand army corps, and BrigadierGeneral Sir A. H. Russell assumes command of the New Zealand division.
