Battle at Kossovo—Severe Bulgarian Losses — Winter on the Battlefields—Qas Attack at Galllpoli— Demands on Greece
Bulgarian attacks on the British at Valanaovi —on the allies' right wing, south of Strumnitza, but on the Servian side ,of the frontier —were repulsed by powerful artillery fire.
In the Uskub district and to the north the Servians have been compelled to relinquish their offensive and retire. The Monstir detachment is, however, advancing.
Winter has set in early in the Balkans, and the weather is the most 'severe for the season for the past decade.
The Germans claim that the main operations in Servia have closed with the flight of the remnants of the Servian army to Albania."
Austro-German' troops have been concentrated ,at Rustch.uk, on the Bulgarian side of the Danube. Roumania refused to allow them to proceed further down the river.
The allies have made three demands on Greece —adequate railway facilities, the withdrawal of Greek troops from the vicinity of Salonika, and the policing of Greek territorial waters against Austrian and German submarines.
The Turks have used asphyxiating gas at the Dardanelles for the first time. An attack against the British failed.
A French report states that Russia hopes to put into the field in the spring an army of seven millions.
