NORTHERN QUEEN CONCERT.
A CONCERT, promoted by Mrs McGarvey, in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, was held in the Star Theatre, Helensville on Monday evening last, inst. The Hall was crowded to the doo_rs, a number of the audience only having standing room. The concert was given by the Te Pua school children, who, under the careful training of the prompter, were in the best of form, and consequently every item was encored.. The stage was affectively decorated, a large Union Jack being draped, at the back. Miss Neighbour and Mr McGarvey, junr., contributed a, patriotic song each, for which they were vociferously encored. The programme opened with a tableaux entitled " Britannia and Her Allies," which was a beautiful display. Misses M. and A. Monk gave a nice pianoforte duet. School boys gave "The House that Jack Built" in a masterly style, a song " Gretcben" by Miss K. McGarvey, and the tableau " The Flower Queen," terminated the first part of the programme.
