OBITUARY
This week it is our melancholy duty to have to record the early demise of another well-known settler, in the person of Mr Arthur John Bradly, after a somewhat protracted illness from cancer in the stomach. Deceased died at .his residence, Te Pua, on Saturday last,, aged 53 years. He was the fourth son of the late W. W. L. Bradly. By occupation deceased was ,an enthusiastic farmer, and took a great interest in all agricultural matters appertaining to the welfare^of his fellows, and was highly esteemed by one and all in the district.
The interment took place at the Helensville cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, a large number of settlers being present. The Rev. Mr Merton (c.E.) officiated at the graveside, A service was held in St. Matthew's Church at 3.30 p.m., by the Rev. Merton, after which the members of the local Foresters' Court (about 25 present) took charge of the body, deceased having been a member of the Court during the past 18 years. Bro. C. Sandin, Secretary of the Court, rendered the usual Foresters' burial service in solemn conclaye, which the general public appeared to appreciate highly.
Though the attendance was large, the cold equinoctial gale blowing, cattle sales pending, etc., militated considerably against a universal last respect being accorded. No mourning was the request of the family.
Deceased leaves a wife and family of four daughters and four sons, as well as a large number of relatives and close friends, to mourn their loss.
The coffin was a, very handsome one of polished rimu, made by Mr A. Beoroft, who acted as undertaker in his usual expert style.
