The offerings at St Matthew's Church, Helensville, on Sunday next will be in aid of a fund for erection and maintainance of Church Institute buildings for use of soldiers at the military camps.
As the Church, of England Vicarage Fund Concert is to be held in the Star Theatre on Wednesday evening next, the usual picture programme for that night will be shown on Tuesday, and' includes "Kronstadt" (a drama written and directed by Max Pemberton).
At the Methodist Church, Helensville, on Monday evening last, a lecture was given by the Salvation Army. There was a good attendance, and the subject was the late General Booth's life story, 'illustrated with beautiful magic lantern pictures.
Town Board Commissioner J". A. Wilson rather than see time and money frittered away on a Fire Brigade station deal, has liberally turned round and given a site free gratis, on his estate near top of Garfield Road.
News has been received by his parents at Woodhill, that Corpl. Fulton, who was recently wounded at the Dardanelles is expected to arrive at Dunedin by the s.s. Willochara, about the 30th inst. Corpl. Fulton is returning invalided, and his many friends wiil be sorry to hear that he has lost his right eye. He was wounded twice in action.
An inquest was held on Saturday, 18th inst., by Mr W. Ryall Fosbroke, J.P., and a jury of six on the body of Claude Robert Hughes, an infant of two months old. After hearing the evidence the jury brought in a verdict of death from bronchial pneumonia and heart failure. Dr. Phippen conducted the post mortem and gave evidence as to cause of death.
