The Servians are vigorouslyresisting the onslaught of the Austro-German invaders, who are employing heavy artillery. The combats have been fierce, and the losses heavy on both sides. A whole enemy regiment was annihilated in a bayonet charge. It is stated that the Servians have retreated to the second line- of their mountain defences, where the enemy's big guns are likely to be of little service. Harrowing scenes were witnessed afc the fall of Belgrade. The allies continue to make substantial progress on the western front, and much ground has been gained and many prisoners taken.

A report from Petrograd states that two Russian torpedo-boats have sunk 19 Turkish vessels laden with ammunition, off the coast of Asia Minor.
