OFFICIAL OPENING
OF NEW BRIDGE AND BATHS
A MEETING was held in the Town Board office on Tuesday, 21st inst., to consider what steps should be taken re having an official opening of the new bridge, also new baths, etc,, at the Hot Springs. There were present Messrs E. T. Field, A. Becroft, J. A. Wilson, and G. Sellars, of the Domain Board Committee, and Mr Jas. McLeod, representing Waitemata County Council. Mr Field was elected Chairman, and Mr Stringer Secretary.
It was decided that the Secretary write to the Prime Minister asking him if he would perform the opening ceremony.
The following committee was elected for the purpose of collecting funds, etc., for providing refreshments for the occasion, and to generally manage affairs on the day : —Mesdam.es Field, McLeod, Wilson, Sellars, Stringer, D. Stewart, J. Stewart, McGarvy, Oxley, J. Lambert junr., Rennie, Aitkenhead, Newman, Cucksey, Ellett, Peacook, White, W.Allen, McAdam, C. Sandin, A. J. Hill, Garry, Screaton, Becrof.t, Hanson, Sewell ;■-Misses W. McLeod, M. Stewart, Nicholls, McDonald, Becroft (2), Monk, Aitkenhead, Simcock (2), Wilson ; and Messrs Field, McLeod, Becroft, Sellars, Wilson, Aitkenhead, Cucksey, R. Screaton. Graham, G. Murphy, J. Carter, Garry, J. Newman, Am. McLeod, Sheffield, Nicholls senr., G. McDonald, J. Lambert senr., J. Lambert junr., Ellett, Peacock, Jas. Hand, W. Rimmer, Rennie, McAdam, Evans, A. Hanson, C. Sandin, and F. Mackenzie senr., with power to add to their number.
Captain Sellars offered to run a moonlight excursion to Sh.elly Beach, in order to provide funds for the occasion. The offer was gratefully accepted, and a hearty vote of thanks accorded to Capt. Sellars for .his generous offer.
It was resolved to call a meeting of the general committee for Thursday, 30th inst., at 8 p.m., in the supper room of the Star Theatre, kindly lent by Mr Becroft for the occasion.
