STOCK SALES

The Auckland Farmers' Union, Limited, report:—

At Helensville on August 17th, we had a very good yarding, with plenty of buyers, and good prices were realised all round. Choice 4-year-old steers made £14 15s ; good 3-year store steers, up to £9 12s 6d; 2-year steers, up to £6 10s ; yearling steers, to £3 ss; yearling heifers, to £2 5s ; springers, from £6 10s to £7 12 6d.

Messrs a. Buckland and Sons report : — . , At Helensville last week some 200 cattle were yarded. Good cows at profit made up to £9 ; backward cows and heifers, from £4 10s to £7; a good line of fat bullocks made up to £14, but were passed in ; fat cows made to £7 ; mixed 18-months, £3 ; others, to £310s; forward store cows, £3 10s to £4 15s; yearling heifers, £1 15s to £2 ss. Two pens of fat weathers made £1 8s 6d each, and a line of some 80 ewes in lamb made 19s 9d. Some young horses were offered by Mr James Hand, and sold at £15. A very successful sale of Mr J. Fletcher's stock was held at Rewitij bringing prices from £5 10s to £10 15s, all being sold. Implements and harness realised fair prices.

At Mr D. J. Russell's sale (Woodhill) there were a large number of buyers Cows sold from £6 to £12; yearling heifers, £3 10s ; horses, one 2-year colt made £14 10s ; implements made full values.

At Mr Latimore's sale there was also a good attendance of buyers, The farm of 50 odd acres was disposed of to a Southern buyer at £3,000, and a lease of 50 add acres at £8 per annum (12 years to run), Forty odd acres were sold at •£ll Per aore. Springers sold at from £5 to £10; 18-months heifers, £5 15s; 18-months to 2-year steers, £11; horses,' £14 to £25. Implements sold at good, values, and everything was disposed of.
