NATIONAL REGISTER
A MOST IMPORTANT MEASURE
Ths Prime Minister has stated in the Housa of- Representatives this session that before Parliament dispersed the question of national registration would be dealt with. This promise ! will probably be fulfilled soo'd after the Housg re-assembles. The Primo Minister stated last week that he had given mstrustions for tha preparation of the necessary legislation to be submitted to Parliament providing for the taking of a national register of all the men in the country, with the object of discovering exactly wnsU are our resources in men fftv military service and for in--1 dustrial service. The proposals were that every man should be required to give his name aud hia age, to state whether married or single, th« num , ber of persons wholly dependent and partially dependent upon him A man would also be required to state whether he is an employer of labour or an employee, occupation, health etc. '
