FIRE ABOARD THE LAUNCH CLEMATIS
A-T 7,30 a..rn. on Friday last, Mr V. Phillips' launch, Clematis, lying alongside the Helensville wharf, was noticed to be on fire. The alarm being: given, over a dozen willing hands soon gathered and rendered valuable assistence in putting out the flames. Captain Robinson and a few other members of the Helensville Fire Brigade put in an appearance, but too late to be of service. The owner of the launch, who resides about three minutes' run from the wharf, was immediately notified of the mishap and was therefore sogn upon the snot, Tfte fire ocourred in the forepart of the hull, and the contents of the cabin were destroyed. Damage to the amount of £25, which is covered by insurance, was sustained. Mr Phillips desires to thank all those who so promptly worked in saving his boat from total destruction.
