Warsaw Occupied— Russia's Orderly Withdrawal—Nothing of Military Value Left —German Retreat from Riga — Enemy's Heavy Losses in France
French ..warships operating off the coast of Asia Minor bombarded two Turkish ports south of Smyrna, and destroyed a village which had been used as a re-vitualling base for enemy submarines.
Fierce fighting continues in the
Vosges, the French holding their » ground against German attacks. Advices from Amsterdam state that bad weather is hampering the allies in the North of France. German efforts to advance between Ypres and Arras have met with failure and resulted in heavy loss.
The occupation of Warsaw by the Germans is announced from Berlin and Vienna. Bavarian troops are stated to have entered the city on Thursday morning, after capturing the outer and inner line of forts. The Russians retired in good order, and nothing .of military value was left to the enemy.
■ Petrograd reports state that the Russians in the region of Ivangorod, south of Warsaw, evacuated the left bank of the Vistula arid blew up the bridges.
