Italian Fleet Active — Shelling Dalmatian Coast—Battle raging on Frontier — Trenches Won on GalHpoli—Turks in Difficulties The Italian Fleet has conducted successful operations off the Austrian coast. The cables between the mainland of Dal-

matia and the outlying Austrian islands have been cut, Austrian lighthouses and observation stations have been destroyed, and the railway between the ports of Cattaro and Ragusa has been damaged.

The'first important battle between the Italians and Austrians on land is being waged across tne Austrian frontier, on the banks of the Isonzo River.
