Advances of Allies — Progress at Dardanelles—ltaly Gains Ground Russians Across the San — German-Amerman Crisis

A despatch from General Sir lan Hamilton states that on June 4 a general attack with the bayonet was made on the Turkish trenches in the southern area of the peninsula. All the troops engaged displayed great gallantry Summing up the recent fighting the General says a good advance has been made along a front of nearly three miles.

A message from London states that a combined general assault on the Turkish positions on the Gallipoli pennrsula has begun.

The French are steadily forcing the Germans from their strong defensive works at Neuville St. Vaast, * known as " the labyrinth." They now hold more, than two-thirds of the village.

The Austrians are retreating in Trentino ; several of their forts have been silenced by the Italians.

The Russians are pursuing a vigorous offensive movement north of Przemysl. They have forced the fighting across the San, and the enemy is reported to be in disorderly retreat.

German airships reached the east and south-east coasts of England and dropped bombs at various places. It .is officially stated that little damage was done.

Americans in Germany have been officially warned- that relations with the United States may be broken off within 48 hours and that they must be prepared to leave. ~.:■■■
