Zeppelin Destroyed — British Airmen's Feat—Russian Victory in North — Austrians nearing Lemberg—Allied Progress in France
A brilliant feat of British airmanship has resulted in the destruction of a German Zeppelin. The Zeppelin, which had been reconnoitring on the Belgian coast, was attacked between Ghent and Brussels by Naval Flight-Sub-Lieut. Warneford, and according to report from Rotterdam, by a French airman. Lieut Warneford, who is a Canadian, dropped six bombs from a height of 6000 ft. The airship caught fire, falling to the ground.' The burning wreckage fell on to a nunnery, which also caught. All the crew of the Zeppelin, numbering 28, were killed, and also two nuns.
The Russians report a desperate action fought along the banks of the River Dubissa, in the Baltic Provinces, in which they were ultimately victorious.
In Galicia the enemy has crossed the Dneister, 30 miles south-east of Lemberg.
Violent fighting is proceeding north of Arras, where the French are maintaining their progress. They are investing the western portion of Ablain St. Nazaire.
