The following table shows the nations now engaged in the present great war, the dates on which they declartd war, and an estimate on the population of each. A rough calculation by means of these figures indicates that no less than 884,000,000 peodle are affected by the war. Even if India's enormous population be left out of acconnt, some 570,----000,000 are more or less directly concerned:—
