SKATING CARNIVAL

A large number of children, seme of them small dots indeed, put in an appearance on Tuesday afternoon at Becruft's Star Picture Hall, to patronise the Children's Fancy-dross Skating Carnival, a number of prizes being given for the most original and best dressed competitors. Many of the dresses worn by the girls an<l boys were quite equal to those worn "in larger and more wealthy communities, and redounded with much credit upon the parents concerned, while many of the lasses were quite charmiDgly dresses in character, Mi^s Iris At asters, representing Becrofc's Star Pictuies, was awarded a special prize. The other prizes presented were :— Girls: Edna Donovan, Gfy sy fortuneteller ; Zillah Menzies, Scotch Lassie ; boys : Lioual Masters, Soldier toy ; Allen Bishop, Guy Faulkes. Other fancy dresses noted were : — Nancy Wilson, 80-Peep ; He en Wilson, Gipsy; lola Menzies, Lord Fauntelroy; Mana Bishop, Sailor; Doris Curhbert, Gaiter Girl ; Phillis Hill, Poppy ; Marjory Hill, Poppy • Phillis Becroft, Milk Maid. Lan Lambert, Boy, Blue ; Mervyn Rawson Soldier; Leslie Vercoe, White Rabbet; Claude Becroft, Esquinuo.
