VALEDICTORY
A very pleasant yet regretable (to the townspeople) social took place on Monday last in the supper room of the foresters' Hall, when Mr R. F Park who has just completed seven years with the local branch of the Union Bank of New Zealand, was bidden farewell by a number ot friends. Mr McLeod (chairman of the Town Board), who presided spoke at some length, referring to Mr Park as a good townsman and one who m business always acted a courteous M^m \ an/ faif Part ' (Hear' Mr McLeod then presented Mr Park With a beautiful travelling rug, a polished case of pipes, and a billiard cue, as tokens of the esteem in which he was neld by his friends and townspeople Mr Donovan, in endorsing the remark* of the Chairman, made especial mention of Mr Park as a sportsman. Nothing in the way of sport passed without Mr Park generously assisted or played himself in any line of sport. Then the long tails ' often got a bad run, Mr 1 ark being a very good shot. Mr Carter also spoke of Mr Park's capabilities in business. Mr Park replied, thanking those present for their (to him) valuable gifts, ht! c£ * said ' T uld always rem*d him of the many friends he had made during his sojourn in Helensville. Mr Park said he was proceeding to Te Kuiti and if ever any of the local people should have occasion to visit there, he would always be pleased to see them Refreshments were afterwards served The singing of « Auld Lang Syne," and^ For He s a Jolly Good Fellow," amidst Wtiot^^ 6™^^^^^
