Helensville Town Band

The members of the Town Band have shown a good deal of enthusiasm in their practices of late, and have nowattained a much higher degree of efficiency. Their pnblic appearances at the Domain and the Agricultural Show gave the players more confidence and more zeal for practice.

Last Tuesday the Band went to Maungaturoto under engagement to play at the Railway and St. Patrick's Day sports, undaunted by the bad weather prevailing* which caused temporary sickness among some of the party, a start was made in the early hours of the morning per menium of Mr J. A. Wilson's launch, and Maungaturoto was reached before noon. With the exception of light showers the weather proved favourable, and the Band had a good outing. In addition to playing at the sports the Band members attended the evening Concert and rendered selections* The return trip was started about 3 a.m., and an enjoyable passage was experienced. Mr Hunter (conductor) and twelve members made the journey, and were well satisfied with their outing.

The Band's next engagement is the and it is also hoped shortly to play at ilelensville sports on Easter Monday the Hot Springs Domain.

To assist the Band financially a few honoary members at 3d per week have been recently elected, and more are de sired.
