A NEW INDUSTRY.

* A meeting of shareholders of

the New Zealand Gum Cleaning Company was held in the Assembly Hall, Dargaville, recently, when a large number of shareholders were present.

Mr Raymond made a lengthyspeech reviewing the origin of the company and the great value of the invention, and read a report of the directors, dealing with the formation and the formulas up to date of meeting. A great interest is being taken in the company, and a number of questions had to be satisfactorily answered, especially those dealing with Royalty to "be paid to the old company. This matter was eventually left to the new directors to deal with. - The report of the directors was adopted on the motion of Mr D. Finlayson, and seconded by Mr Mandich. A motion by Mr Mandich was seconded by Mr Babich, that seven directors be elected, was carried. The following gentlemen were elected unanimously : Messrs. Raymond, Watson, Finlayson, Dargaville, Williams, Mandich, and Totich. A vote of thanks to the chair brought the meeting to a close. The great amount of interest taken by diggers in the new movement augurs well for the prosperity of the company, as the share list shows a large percentage of diggers, and Dargaville is fortunate in getting in early. There is every prospect of a factory being erected here, and the Wairoa diggers will in future evade the tedious method of scraping kauri gum while burning the midnight oil. —Bell.
