Alfred Buckland and Sons' Sales.

Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report:—

At our weekly Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday July 9, our entry of beef numbered 358 head. There was a sluggish demand, and values suffered a drop of about LI a head. Choice ox sold to Li 9s ; prime, LI 5s to Ll'7s ; cow and heifer, 18s to Ll 6s. Steers ranged in price from L7 10a to Ll4 17s 6d; cows and heifers' L4 10s to L9 17s 6d. Fat and young calves came forward in increased numbers, and sold readily at about late rates, Runners brought from L4 12s to L5 5s ; heavy suckers, L3 10s to L4 5s ; medium suckers, L2 5s to L3 5s ; light, Ll 5s to L2 Is ; small and fresh dropped, 3s to Ll Is (81 sold).

There was a heavy yarding of sheep, including many lines of prime wethers. The demand was irregular: an odd pen of really prime wethers sold at almost last week's values, but taking the sale as a whole, prices were easier. Extra heavy prime wethers, Ll 5s 6d to Ll 8s ; heavy prime, Ll 2s to Ll 4s, medium to heavy, 18s 6d to Ll Is ; light and unfinished, 16s to 18s ; extra heavy prime ewes, Ll 2s to Ll 3s 6d; good, 17s to Ll Is ; others, 14s to 18s 6d. Best hoggets, 15a 6d to 17s 6d j good, 14s to 15s ; others, 10s 6d to 13s 6d (2627 sold).

The 136 pigs penned were chiefly choice porkers and baconers ; competition waa Keen, and Gxweme values ruled. Choppers, IA 17s to L6 5s ; heavy baconers, L3 19s to L4 12s ; lighter baconers, L3 8s to L3 17s ; large porkers, L2 15s to L3 7s ; smaller, L2 2s to L2 12s ; light, Ll 9s toLl 18s; slips, 16s6droLl 2s; weaners, 12s to 15s ; suckers, to 11s.
