Speaking recently in Sydne}'-, Dr Buck, M.P,, said that the curse of the Maori race was the communistic system. It had been useful in the old fightingdays, but of none now. "What we want," Dr Buck concluded, " is to get the titles to the land individualised—each Maori getting the title of a piece of land, instead of it all being owned by the community —and when that is done you will find that they will develop into a race of farmers, and good citizens." .
