Followers of the '' dog and gun " pas-time are awaiting with interest the advent of the shooting season. . The Kaipara river "is literally "teeming" with ducks and sportsmen should have a good "time. Many of the usual haunts of the hire's, lakes and swamps are practically dry owing to the dry summer, and the river, is thus' their chief resort. There are a few pheasants and quail about, also rabbits, but most of the sport in this district will be among the water-fowl. - -
