Bowling.
The pargaville Bowling Club paid their first visit to Hehnsville to meet tho local club last Saturday morning. The result of the iirst match, two rinks from each club, was won by the visitors by <J5 points against .'37. The details wore as follow :—. DargavilieNo I link—Boxer, Heron, Tjane and Liloycl 27 v Hill, MeEwin, Ellett and Harris 15. .DargavilieNo 2 rink—Can-, William, Gervis and Hayes 18 v Cullon, Parle, llrmmor and Murray 22. An eleven head game was afterplayed, which was won by the home team b}' one point at each rink. _ln the match against Kiverhead the iieiensvslle players had a comfortable win, the totals reading 55 points against 35. The visitors went in for " drivpig " far to much and thus 'spoilt their chances of registering a win. The particulars are as under home rink being mentioned first in each case :—H afford, Willis, Park and Murray 21 v Berry, Young, Ellise and Olyton 20. Simcock, E. O. McLeod, Ptimmer and Harris 32 v Tehau, Morton, 'Williams and Rodorick 15. The Dargavilie players were afterwards entertained to dinner at th^ Kaipara Hotel by the local club, Mr J, McLeod, the president, in proposing the toast of " The visitors," extended a cordial welcome to them on tlie occasion of their first visit, which he hoped would be the forerunner of many others. The Helensville club was only in its first year, and although the players intended to try their best
against the visiting team, they fully ■"expected to "he beaten. The game, however, had. been a very enjoyable one for the home players .and.-he hoped also for the visitors,
- In responding, Mr - Hayes, president of the Dargaville Club, returned thanks for the kindly mannur in which'they had" been received and entertained. . Although the Helensville players had lost it would be consolation for them -to know that it was customary for the home team to lose, and when. Helensville paid a return visit, which he hoped would he soon, the result would very likely''be in'their favour,
