NEW YEAR'S HOLIDAY

At present the indications for an ideal day to open the new year are good, and there should be large crowds at the different functions in the district.

One of the main attractions should be the Annual Regatta at Shelly Beach, for which place the A.19. Brota Tui leaves Helensville at 9 a.m. calling at Green's landing, to be followed by the S.B. Tuirangi from Mount Hex after arrival of morning train, the S.S. Ohinetruri after Express train, and 8.8. Bellbird after arrivnl of special train at 10.35 am. The A.L. Mahutoro will leave Shelly Beach for Greens Landing at 4 p m. if sufficient inducement offers. A great gathering is anticipated at Kaipara's Premier Picnic ground. At Motutara there are to be Sports, and as a number of people are alroady camping in the vicinity there should also be a large gathering there. On January 3rd the Otamatea Racing Club hold their annual meeting at Matakolie. ' '

On Jan 9fch the Kaukapakapa Athletic Club hold their Annual Sports in Mr Drinnans' paddock. The Auckland Racing Club conclude their meeting at Sllerslie on New Year's Day, . ';->,..; ,-,
