ST MATTHEWS CHURCH

A Social to welcome the Hey Mr and Mrs Merton to the Parochial District of Helens villa was held in the Foresters' Hall on Friday last. Mr White, the Vicar Warden, on behalf of Vestry and Members of the congregation welcomed the Vicar and his wife, and hoped that their, work in Helensville and surroundings districts would be successful, both socially and spiritually. Mr Kirgan, the Presbyterian Minister, was also present and extended a hearty welcome to Mr and Mrs Merton. The Vicar in response thanked all those present.for their attendance, and he hoped to see them all at their homes as time progressed, He specially asked the members of his congregation to help him with their prayers. He was sur6 if they would do this, his work would be successful. The rest of the evening was spent with Musical items supplied by Mrs Chandler, Misses Channon and liimmer. and Messrs Harvey, Lowe, Page, Screaton, and H. andC. White, The ladies of the congregation kindly supplied the refreshments and Mrs Becroft kindly supplied the hot water. Ihe rest of the evening was spent with a short dance, to music supplied by Miss Eimmer,
