WAIMAUKU NEWS

(Own Correspondent.)

The Directors of the Waitemata Cooperative Dairy Company held their usual monthly meeting on.the 7th inst., and decided to advance lOid (and pay all freights) on butter-fat for the coming season,. Ist September to 31st March. The manager, Mr T. Henery (from the Whangarei <Jo-op. Dairy), has made all first grade butter, which speaks for itself, and lie has carried out great improvements in the factory, enabling him to handle the extra supply of cream and butter. A new Secretary being engaged has relieved Mr Y. Kerr-Taylor from his duties (he having done all the work in the past free) Mr J. B. Gilmore, Accountant, ®f Auckland, secured the position. The Chairman of Direr-tors, Mr E. C. Beale, in passing a unanimous vote of thanks to the retiring secretary, en^ dorsed the Auditor's complimentary remarks on his work. One shares holder waited on the Directors to ask if the report was that Mr V. Kerr-vTay-lor intended severing all his connection with the Company. Mr Kerr-Taylor assured the shareholder there was absolutely no foundation iu the rumour ; it being his intention to continue supplying and remain on the Directorship, but owing to being nn~ able to secure efficient help he intended to reduce his herd from 60 to 30, and was offering cows for sale.

Two flax buyers are visiting the district. The owner of the Eewiti mill starts work this week, and the "Waimauku mil] is almost ready. Flax is plentiful but labour to cut it is so short.

Farmers in this district are bu^y getting their oats in. Those fortunate enough to get theirs in before the recent rs.in have a good start.
