SHOOTING

On Saturday latst the Members of

the Helensville Junior Cadet Detachment travelled to Ellerslia to fire a match against the Ellerslie School team. The weather was most nii~ favourable, the rain coming down in* cessantly during the match. As a result the match had to be fired partly under cover, in a very poor light, and the local boys were outclassed, from tho first. Two rounds were tired, the home team leading in each round, and winning on the total by 414 to 335. Given a fine day, the 0. 0. considers there would have be«n very little to chose between the teams ; the losing team shooting considerably below their usual form. The best totals on our side were made by Private F. Scott (43) and Sergeant J. Monk (41), It is hoped that a return match will take place during the lati week of Novemter.

A match has been arrangad with the Point Chevalier boys on the I9th, November at Helensville.
