The dairy factory is now in full swing again. Owing to tho bad state of tho roads tho cream carts have great difficulty in getting in to time. The Bickerstafle and Whakapirau roads are especially bad, owing to the railway works. It is txpectod that this will bo a record season, both in the output of butter and also in the price paid. It is not certain yet what will be the price paid, but it will probably be Is per lb of butter fat. The company have added to their plant during the off season, so will have no difficulty in dealing witn the extra out put expected.

The railway works at present are practically at a standstill, Owing to tho bad weather, most of the surface work lias been iefr until later. The culverts are all well in hand and as far as the work is in progress should soon be finished. Tho small tunnel at. IHckerstafio has been pierced for some time and should soon bo com«< pletod. Progress at tho big tunnel is slow and it is only being worked from one end just now. It is expected that as soon as tho small tunnel isjcompleted, all tho men from it will be transferred to the big one, so we may hop« to soon see that one working- from the two ends. The Otaina-

tea bridge is progressing very si owl v. The wharf is almost completed and will be in uso before very long. The department are about to open another section of construction works, so we shall soon see a large number of men employed again. There are very few on the line at present except tunnell and culvert men.

The very bad Aveather wo have been getting- lately has made the roads worse than ever. Travellers say they are deeper than they have been all the winter. Still we hope Bre Ion"- to see them improve.

It was decided to get tlie association registered at onco to put it on a legal footing. A strong committee manage the affairs of the association. The members now number about 50. The secretary has orders in hand for some 15 more machines, which goes to prove thu popularity of the scheme.

The Bachelors Ball, on Sept. 27th, promises to be a large success. In vitations have been sent far and wide and the committee; expect about 70 to 80 couples will be present from proseut indications.
