HELENSVILLE A. AND P. ASSOCIATION

A special general meeting of the above was held in the Secretary's office on Saturday evening last, when there ■was a good attendance.

Mr Jas. McLeod was voted to the chair, and explaiced that the meeting was called to elect a President in placs of Captain Hammond, who was leaving the District. 'l'Tie Secretary stated that the rules of the Association read : That two Vice-presidents shall be elected, and accept office on the understanding that if possible, ©ne of them shall fill the office of President the following year.

Mr 0. H. Spinley, being: one of the vice-presidents, was elected t> fill the position. On taking the chair, Mr Spinley thanked the members for the honour of being elected to the position. He also stated that the best help members could give the chair was by regularly attending the meetings.

Mr Aitkenhead was appointed vicepresident to fill the vacancy left by Mr Spinley. It was proposed by Mr J. McLeod, and seconded by Mr Wilson : "That the President be put on the To>vn Board Electoral Roll to carry the vote ■which the Association is entitled to." The Secretary was instructed to attend to the matter.

The Secretary read a telegram from Messrs Paterson and Robertson asking if the Association could arrange for a lecture to be givpn on fertilisers aud their use, illustrated with slides. The lecture would be free, the Association to provide the Hall. The le^ turer is a prominent Australian expert.

It was decided to arrange for Parakai Hall for Wednesday (this) even* ing. A letter was read from the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association stating that they had decided to open a Dairy Herd Competition for the 1912-13 season on similar lines to that of last year, and asking the Association to bring the matter before the farmers in the district. A lengthy circular circular was inclosed.-—Letter taken aa read.

A letter was read from the Fields Instructor of the Agricultural Department re co-operative experiments on orowing different crops. (This letter ■which may interest our readers will be published next week.)
