HELENSVILLE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A Meeting of the above was held on Tuesday 13th, Present : Captain Hammond (Chairman) Messrs Bradly Constable, Olive, Simcock, and White the Secretary reported the Bank Balance credit £7 18s Od.

Chairman stated that the Competitions between the scholars of the various schools in the District had been held and the work done had been classified and sent to Mr Garrard, the Inspector, to be judged.

Accounts paid between meeting passed £2 5s Od, accounts passed for payment. £2 2s Id.

Mr Simcock was appointed visiting member until next Meeting-. The Chaiiman then stated that owing to his leaving the District he had to resign the chairmanship which he did with regret.

Porposed by Mr 'Olive, seconded by Mr Constable that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded to Captain Hammond for his services in the past as Chairman, and the Committee regrets his leaving the District. —Carried. Several members of the Committee spoke in feeling terms of the Chairmans departure, also in the good workhe had done.

The Headmaster, Mr Hill, also said that he wished to express his thanks to the Chaiiman for his help in many ways' tiddiup that the present Chairman, and Committee had always worked in unison with. him.

Captain Hammond returned thanks for the many kind expressives of opinion with regard to himself, and said that he regretted having to leave the district, but hoped that the new Chairman and Committeo would do thenbest to forward on the idea of getting a High School for Heleasville, which lie was sure was only a matter of time, when they would gel it.
