A. Rare Treat—This is promised to patrons of the Wide World Pictures this evening when they will show a captivating programme. The Handicap, The Sunbeam, and The Power of Love are the star items, while other films to be shown are real good.
A meeting of ratepayers of the Mairetahi Riding is advertised to be held in the Parakai Hall on Wednesday 28th irist, to consider the formation of a ratepayers association, etc., also at the same time to consider the Central Station question. All interested are requested to attend,
Don't forget, Red Riding Hood on Tuesday, August 27th. The entertainment in aid of s the Presbyterian Church, is to be one of the best yet given by local artists, and all should make a point of seeing the children in the different parts. The cast of characters are in our advertising columns.
A shooting match has been arranged for Saturday September 14th, between the Helensvilie Cadet Detachment and Ellerslie School, at Ellerslie. The match will be on the Departmental Target, 7 shots each, 10 a-side. Good practice is being put up, and the O, C. reports that it will be very difficult to pick the team.

At the conclusion oi the Town Board meeting on Monday last, the Chairman said the next meeting, the last of the present Board, would be held the Monday previons to the election of the New Board, and everything would be ready. Mr McLeod asked if the Chairman was going to provide a farewell repast. 'Yes,' said the chairman, ' I will supply the refreshments, and plenty of fizz. 1 'Make a note of that please,' said Mr McLeod, ' We are to have a good time,'
Friday 23rd Miss Valeric Collins Assisted by some of Auckland leading Artists. New Zealand Herald. April 25th, 1912, —Last night's concert was a severe test of the capabilities of the young singer, Miss Valeric Collins came out of the ordeal well. She sings agreeable and intelligently, the inflections of tone well managed and dictum clear, Her voice has a wide range and carried effectively across the vast hall to the furthest gallery occupant The Auckland Star, April 25th, 1912.—Miss Valeric Collins is the possessor of a pleasing voice of considerable strength; while especially effective are the tones of the lower register. All her songs were given with purity of voice and suitable phrasing,the very low notes being heard to advantage.
