SOUTH OF ENGLAND.
(Received September 14, 5.5 a.m.) London, September 10. The cricket mutch Australians v. South of England was resumed at Brighton to-day, the attendance being moderate. Heavy rain was falling at intervals, and the wicket was heavy in consequence.
The visitors, who yesterday lost seven wickets for 207, only increased ihe score to 229 before the last wicket fell.
At tho close of the day's play the South of England had lost four wickets f-.r 90.
September 11
The cricket match Australians v. South of Englaud was continued at Brighton to-day, the weather bein» splendid. The attendance on the ground was good. The wicket, however, was still heavy. The Home team resumed their innings, but failed to make an effective stand, aud the inniogs closed for 136 runs.
Being in the minority of 83, the Englishmen had to follow on, and were much more successful than in the preceding innings. When stumps were were drawn they h;id compiled 245 r-in.i :'t;i t.ie 10.-s oi' ::ix wickets. The m.iich was therefore drawn. W. W. Read was the principal scorer, playin" a splendid iuuings for 102, uot out.
