The final cricket match between the Australians aud the All England eleven commenced today at Kennington Oval. The interest taken in the match is very great. The attendance was enormous. The weather was fine, un excellent wicket was pitched, and the ground was in first-rate order. The Home team is composed as follows :—W. G. Grace (Gloucester) W. Read (Surrey), A. G. Steel (Lancashire), E. F. S. Tylecote (Hertfordshire), R. G. Barlow (Lancashire), W. Barnes (Notts), J. Brigos (Lancashire), J. Lohmann (Surrey), W. Scotton (Notts), A. Shrewsbury (Notts), and G. Ulyett (Yorkshire) —being the same team as in the second match. The Home team went first to the wickets, Grace and Scotton being the first to bat. A determined stand was made by those players, Scotton putting together 34 before he was disposed of. Shrewsbury joined Grace, who was batting splendidly, and a magnificent exhibition of cricket was made. Grace scared 170 before he was put out. Read succeeded Grace, and with Shrewsbury continued at the wickets until the stomps were drawn for the day, the Englishmen having lost two wickets for 279 runs.
