An interview has taken place between Graham Berry and Stanhope, Secretary of State for the Colonies, regarding the New Hebrides. Berry urged that the 'lmperial Government should, without delay, elicit from the French Government the date upon which the Fiench forces would be withdrawn. Stanhope expressed his concurrence with Graham's contention, and stated that he believed the French would shortly be oldiged to come to a settlement of the New Hebrides question. The Anglo-Spanish Convention as »fleeting colonial wines will come into operation on the 15th October. (Rwcivod Augi'.stl4: } 0.50 a.m.) August 13. A number of colonial visitors proceeded yesterday to Chester, where they were entertained at luncheon by the Mayor: The Duke of Westminister ■mcl the Bishop of Chester being present. The patty afterwards drove to Eaton Hall, the seat of the Duke of Westminister, as guests of his Grace. England, published to-day, shew the total reserve in notes and bullion to be £11,800,000, or £300,000 more than last week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities has advanced to 42 per cent. Consols -J- higher, 101^. Now Zealand securities maintain their last quotation. The bank ra,te of discount remains I£, and the raatket rate at If. Breadstuff's and tullow are unchanged. "La Liberte," in an article to-day upon the New Hebrides question, insists that the occupation of those islands by French troops is temporary, and states that the force will be withdrawn when its presence there is unnecessary in the interests of French subjects resident in the New Hebrides. (Received August 14, 0.50 a.m.) Naples, August 13. The cholera epidemic is increasing along the shores of the Adriatic Sea, and spreading into the interior.
