The cricket match was resumed at Manchester to-day, with splendid weather and a large attendance, tho greatest interest being taken in the contest. The Home team, with one wicket down for 36 runs, up, continued their first inniDgs, with Scotton and Shrewsbury, the not-outs of yesterday. The former added 10 to his score when he was caught, 22. Read joined Shrewsbury, and runs came rapidly, the Surrey gentleman being in capital form. A separation took place when Shrewsbury scored 31, bowled. Barlow followed, and continued, with Read, to make a good stand against the Australian bowling; but the former was at length caught when he had put together an excellently played 51. Of the players who followed, Ulyett and Lahman were the most successul, the Yorkshireman contributing 17, bowled, and when the professional had scored 32, caught, Barlow carried out his bat with 38, and the innings closed for 223 runs—lß ahead of the Australians. The Australians then went in a second time, and when the stumps were drawn, the score stood at 55, with four wickets down, Scott being not out, 36, and Jones, caught, 12.
