In the Honse of Commons to-day, the bill was read a second time to authorise the admission of wines of 30 degrees of alcoholic stcength at a shilling a gallon duty, as provided by the convention recently concluded with Spain. (Received June 15, 1.40 a.m.) June 14. The Hon. Mr Gladstone has issued a manifesto to the electors of Midlothian in which he urges the only policies to be pursued iu regard to Ireland are in the direction of an autonomous government of that country, and measures for the coercion and repression of outrages. He argues that the former will also strengthen the union and extinguish feuds, develop the resources of Ireland, redeem the honour of Great Britain, and remove the reproach of the world.
Serious rioting has taken place in Sligo between Catholics and Protestants •the former being the agressors, the dwellings of Protestants being wrecked, and their shops sacked. The disturbance was of so serious a character that the military were called out to quell the outbreak. Afm ther outbreak is feared, and ieinforoemeuLa of troops are being despatched to the scene. (Received June 15, 12.50 p.m.) Evening. The steamship Rimu»aka arrived, all well, at Plymouth to-day. Her frozen meat is in good condition. Madiera, June 10. The steamship Aorangi sailed to-day for Auckland, via the Cape of Good Hope. One of i the Coart physicians who was in j attendance on the ex iting, in attempt--1 in;j to rescue him, was also drowned.

Farther details regarding the suicide of King Louis show that a violent struggle took place between his Majesty and the doctor before the King succeeded in drowning himself. Prince Otto, brother of the late Louis 11., has been proclaimed King, but as his Majesty’s mind is also deranged, Prince Luitpold, uncle of King Otto has been appointed regent.
