md Michael Sheehan in that defendants being the registered owners of donbhirea claim at the Shamrock Lead, held under certificate 29439, they had abandoned said claim for mu-e than the 'pace of one calendar month, the same not having been protected within the meaning of the Mining Regulations; and complainant prayed that the defendants be adjudged to have forfeited ™ ld case postponed to 2btb May, for service to be effected. Harry Richards and Robert Wa«schall applied that Alex. R e id and party be adjudged to forfeit the surplus of special site at Larrikins, held under certificate 29937 as being j ai „ ei . area of ground that that to which they were entitled under the Mining Regulations; and that complainants be put in possession of the said surplus as an ordinary claim.—Mr Hannan for plaintiffs; Mr Seddon for defendants.—The Waiden found that the defendants were holding more ground than they were entitled to under their registration, and directed that their special site be reduced as follows, that is to say, stanim* from south-east peg, take 30ft. along east boundary, thence in a straight line to the peg at river bend of area, and throwing off all the ground on the north-east of such line, which the complainants can take. Each party to pay their own costs. applications. Hatty Richards and Robert Wa(Tschall applied, by their agent Mr Hannan, for leave to work the ground occupied for special site No. 29937, situate at Larrikins, and ihe property of Alexander Reid and party. The applicants stated that they did not require to disturb or work the surface, their object being to extract the auriferous earth from beneath the stone site by means of blocking out and timber, ing the ground, which they intended doing independent of their application.—The Warden stated that as the application did not apply to the surface lights, he did not think that it was an application to be entertained under the regulation. Order accordingly refused. Peter Grant and party applied for fourteen days protection for extended claim at Larrikins, to continue to arrange ro sluicing into sludge-channel Ho. 2,—Granted. William Bain and party, by their agent Mr Hannan, applied for an extended claim at Larrikins Elat. The applicants stated that they had expended about £BOO in capital and labour in connection with the openingup of this claim during the past four years.—Granted, condition to be posted at shaft, as before.
