[united press association.! Auckland, April 16. The champion whaleboat race between Waitemata and Hauraki crews for £2OO aside, takes place to-morrow. The betting is about even money, but Waitemata has most supporters. WRECK OF UNION STEAMER TAIAROA. Kekerangu, April 15. The inquest was resumed this morning, wheu additional evidence was given. The coroner summed up, and said the matter was perfectly clear of suspicions circumstances attending the death of any of them. In order that all the facts might be before the jury, he had thought it right to collect the fullest evidence obtainable regarding the wreck. The jury instantly returned a verdict of found drowned. The coroner issued a certificate for the burial of the bodies at Kekerangu, three at Woodbank, and one at Flaxbourne. Re thanked the jury for their attendance, and the proceedings terminated.

Later. . The bodies of the chief officer and Morrison, the fireman, were sent away by the Wakatu to Lyttelton this afternoon. The . other three bodies were buried here. The Rev. T. Grace, of Blenheim, and W. M‘Cara, of Kekerangu, officiated. The three bodies at Wood bank, and Yallanco’s, at Flaxbourne, will be buiied to-morrow.

Wellington, April 16. Mr Dalrvmple, the chief engineer, has identified the body of No. 1 as thai of Robert Irvine, fireman ; he was nbont 45 years of age and belonged to Newry, Ireland. He had been in the Taiaroa fourteen months, and was a single man. He also stales that the body supposed to be that of Stratford, engineer, and on whose body was found a considerable amount of money, could not be him, as Stratford had only a pound or two. The carpenter states that if ISo. 3 is the man who relieved •James, his name is M‘Phee, a married man with two children.
