Rear-Admiral Try on, at present in Melbourne, is consulting with the authorities on the subject of the defences of the colony. He has been informed that a conference will assemble at Sydney on the 26th April, for the consideration of a federal scheme of colonial defence. The Premiers of New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland will be present. It is probable the question of the administration, of New Guinea will be discussed.
