FIRE BRIGADES COMPETITION AT NAPIER, [from otjr own correspondent.] Napier, January 29. ALARM AND RUSH, 200 YARDS First Prize.—Cash or trophy, value £4 4s (presented hy the' Demonstration Committee). Second Prize. Trophy, value £2 2s (presented by Hallenstein Bros). Third Prize Cash or trophy, value £1 Is (presented by the Demonstration Committee). Total value, £7 7a. Fireman to run 25 yards to clothes (throwing off private coat and cap), put on uniform consisting of tunic, helmet, belt and spanner; run 200 yards to engine. Two entries from each Brigade. To draw for placea. All dressing to be finished before breasting the tape (tunic to be buttoned with not less than 4 buttons) or man will be disqualified. After passing tape men will hold their arms over their heads till dissmissed by the Judges. Only four men entered; two of Masterton team, and two of Kumara. Hamilton (Masterton) ... I Schulstad (Kumara) ... 2 FIREMEN'S FLAT RACE, 200 YARDS. For Firemen only (in full uniform).— First Prize, £3 3s; second prize, £2 2s; third prize, £1 Is. Hamilton (Masterton) ... 1 Copeland (Wangauui) ... 2 Brady (South Dunedin)... 3 A banquet will be held fo-night. At a meeting of the Fire Brigades Association it was decided to hold the next conference at Auckland, if a demonstration can be arranged there. A gold medal was voted to ex-Secre-tary Robinson in recognition of his services.
