KUMARA SCHOOL DISTRICT.

A meeting of the Kumara School Committee was hold in the Town Hall ort Thursday-eveuing 3 present—Mr R. J. Seddon (Chairman), Messrs F. Barrowman, Jamioson, Voysey, and Campbell (Hon. Sec). The minutes of ihe previous nieetin°were read and confirmed. The outward correspondence was read and approved of, and the inward read and received.

The Secretary was instructed to forward to the Education Board, as requested, last year's balance-sheet, together with all books, accounts, and vouchers relating thereto.

Mr R. J. Seddon was nominated for a seat on the Board of Education.

It was tesolved that the caretaker be asked to explain how the school doors wore left open, so that a number of boys got in and broke the windows. Intimation having been «iven that his Excellency the Governor will visit Kumara on or about Thursday next, the 4th February, it was resolved that the day be a school holiday aud that the children meet at the school grounds at i he hour fixed, and, in procession, proceed to the town boundary to meet his Excellency. That the* Secretary write to the Kumara Brass Bind, and ask them to kindly giant their services on the occasion. Also, that Mr Woodward and the other teachers be requested to take charge of the children whilst in procession.

The Chairman, Secretary, and Messrs Burrowman and Voysey were appointed a subcommittee to carry out the foregoing resolution.

A small account for the caretaker was passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned till the first Monday in March.
