CHRISTMAS SPORTS.

♦ The first meeting of the Sports Committee was held in the Town Hall lastevening ; present—Messrs Barger (in the chair), Killeen, G. Anderson, Walker, Olden, Mulvihill, Wiesner, Gibson, Howe, Ziegler, Dr. Davy, D. Hannan, O. W. Anderson, and Budkin (Hon, Secretary). Mr Ziegler reported having waited upon Mr Keech with reference to the use of his paddock, but he could not give a decided answer in the absence of O his partner, Mr Molloy. The following reso utions were then adopted : That the Sports be held in the Recreation Ground ou the 26th and 28th December. That the names of Messrs D. Callanan and M. Maloney be added to the Committee. That Messrs Pearn, Barnett, Killeen, Mansfield and D. Callanan be appointed a sub-committee to draw up the programme of Sports; three to form a quorum. That the Secretary write to the Borough Council for permission to use the Recreation Ground. That the Secretary write to the Kurnara Brass Band asking if they would be willing to play for the Committee on the 26th and 28th, and also their terms for those days. That the Secretary advertise for tenders for booths Nos. 1 and 2, Fruit stall, and right to games. Applicants for booths to subscribe £3, fruit stall £l, games 10s, to the fund, to entitle the tender to be considered. Tenders to close on Tuesday evening next. That a floor be laid for dancing 24ft. by 36ft. That Messrs Ziegler, Mulvihill, and D. Hannan be a sub-committee to mark out the site for booths, &c., and that the time for closing the Spores and also for removing the refuse from the ground be the same as last year. The meeting then adjourned to Tuesday evening, at half-past 8 o’clock.
