WAR BETWEEN SERVIA AND BULGARIA.

DESPERATE NATURE OF THE SLIVNITZA STRUGGLE. 25,000 SERVIANS AND 15,000 BULGARIANS ENGAGED. THIRTEEN HOURS' FIGHTING. THREE THOUSAND SERVIANS KILLED AND WOUNDED. DEFEAT AND RETIREMENT OF THE SERVIANS. (Received November 19, 10.45 p.m.) Belgrade, November 18, A despatch from the army in Bulgaria announces that the division which crossed the Timok a few days ago captured Riding, while the forces operating in the south were taking Rodomir. The division advancing upon Slivnitza met with a check. The Bulgarian troops attacked and captured the Servians' position in that neighbourhood after an obstinate resistance. Sofia, November 18. It is estimated that the Servians sustained a loss of upwards of three thousand killed and wounded in the fighting near Slivnitza. The Bulgarian losses are not yet reported. (Received November 20, noon.) Belgrade, November 19. Farther reports respecting the engagement near Slivnitza state that 25,000 Servians and 15,000 Bulgarians were in the action, which was of the severest nature, and was continued for thirteen hours. The conflict wae renewed yesterday, and was still proceeding when despatches were forwarded. King Milan claims that his troops were slowly forciug Prince Alexander to retire upon Sofia. (Received November 20, 12.45 p.m.) Latest. King Milan advises that the Servian forces advancing upon Slivnitza have suffered a defeat and are now retiring to Dargu Pass to await reinforcements.
