RECONSTRUCTION OF NEW SOUTH WALES PARLIAMENT.
LOAN FOR RAILWAYS IN VICTORIA. DISCOVERY or SUNKEN ROCK OFF WILSON’S PROMONTORY. (Received October 5, 10 p.in.) Sydney, October 5. Sir Alex. Stuart, Premier, placed his resignation in the hands of the Governor to-day. His Excellency sent for the Hon. W. B. Dailey, Attorney-Gen-eral, who, however, declined to form a Ministry. Lord Loftus then called upon the Hon. G. R. Dibhs, Colonial Treasurer, who undertook the task, and is now actively engaged in endeavoring to reconstruct the Ministry. (Received October 5, 2.24 p.m.) Melbourne, September 5. The Hon. Mr Service will shortly ask Pailiiment tn authorise a loan of two millions, to be applied to the construction of railways in Victoria. The Government steamer Dispatch,
which was sent to survey the locality of the wreck of the steamer Gulf of Carpentaria discovered that the sunken rock which the vessel sUuck lies at a depth of 15 feet below low-water mark.
