[united press association.] Auckland, October 1. The North New Zealand Woollen Company is to be registered at once, £16,000 worth of capital having been subscribed. The factory will cost £3OOO, and plant £9OOO. A meeting of shareholders is to be held next week to appoint directors. T. Pollock, recently charged at the Police Court with stealing sheep and cattle in the Waikato, has raised an action for £IOOO damages against the prosecutor. Mr Foley, proprietor of Fryer's circus, received a cablegram from Australia stating that the horses and other animals will be permitted to land either at Sydney or Melbourne. They intend to take them on there. Henry Ick Bush, cook, was found drowned in the Wangarei river. He had been drinking. Wellington, October 1. The funeral of Colonel Reader took place this afternoon. Deceased was accorded a funeral with full military honours. The cortege, notwithstanding that the weather was most boisterous, was a very imposing one. The Rev. Archdeacon Stock conducted the funeral service. Half a ton of stone found in the Pohonguna block near Ashurt, Masterton, has yielded 60ozs. silver and loz. 3dwts. gold. One of six shareholders has refused £SOO for hia interest. The flower show at the Exhibition was a great success. Napier, October 1. The chief postmaster, John Grubb, has instituted proceedings against the Evening News to recover damages for libel.
