[united press ASSOCIATION.! Christchdrch, August 12. The body of a newly-born infant was found in the river near Stan more bridge this morning. Dunedin, August 12. Scott's backers have sent £IOO to Sir J. D. Astley, with the request he will endeavour to find a man in the United Kingdom to meet Scott in a 12 and 24 hours' walk for £SOO aside each match. The body of Mrs Hector M'Kenzie, who was drowned in the flood at Manawatn in last September, has been brought here and buried in the family vault. A boxing match took place to-night in which Donovan, light weight champion of Auckland, undertook to knock out Parker, the local nine stone champion, in four rounds, which he failed to do. The boxing was very heavy. Wellington, August 11. The body of George Buick, who was drowned while attempting to cross the Wainuioro river last Monday, has been found about 28 miles down the river from where the accident occurred. In the Scaramelli poisoning case Moore was committed for trial, but his wife was discharged. Auckland, August 11. The body found in the harbor was identified as that of Geo. Alcott, alias Martin, laborer. William Athol, who fell 40 feet at the Calliope dock, died ab the hospital of his injuries.
