[REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright. THE SEAMEN’S UNION AND THE S.S. ZEALANDIA. ENGLAND AND RUSSIA. PRECAUTIONS IN VIEW OF OUTBREAK OF WAR. (Received April 15, 10.30 p.m.) Sydney, April 15. Arrived, the steamship Wakatipu, from Wellington, this afternoon. The dispute between the Pacific Mail Company and the Seamen’s Union relative to the employment of Chinese aboard the Zealandia still continues. The Company are now shipping a fresh crew for the vessel under the protector of police, to avoid intimidation.
Brisbane, April 15. Precautionary measures with a view to the possible outbreak of war between England and Russia are being taken by the Queensland Government in order to place the colony in a better state of defence. The various forces are beinw increased, and stringent regulations drawn up to control the entry of foreign and other vessels into Moreton Bay.
