At a meetiug of the representatives of marine insurance companies to-day, it was decided to provide for war premiums on future policies, homewards and outwards, with Great Britain and the East, the rates to be dependent upon Home advances. (Received March 11, 1.10 a.in.) The Cabinet to-day decided to communicate with the South Australian and Queensland Governments asking their views regarding a proposed Soudan contingent and only to act conjointly with them, afterwards to refer the question to Parliament, which meets on the 31st inst. (Received March 11, 1.20 p.m.) March 11. The replies of Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, and Tasmania, regarding the amended draft of the Federation Bill, will be forwarded imme-
diately to the Imperial Government through Sir Arthur Blythe, Agent. General for South Australia. (Received March 11, 1 p.m.) Sydney, March 11. The Ringarooma passengers are released from quarantine, no fresh case of small-pox having occurred. The patient James Steward is progressing very favourably towards recovery. The Government has ordered active steps to be made to strengthen the local defences. Albany, March 10. Arrived, this morning, the P. and 0. Royal Mail steamship Pekin, with the English mail of 6th February.
